Silver lining

Hello!  Boy have I missed you all.

I apologize again for falling off the face of the blog world, but life happened and there was little room for anything extracurricular.  I won’t bore you with the gory, depressing details but my life is changing in more ways than one.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my Grandma Miner…What would she have said to me during this tough time in my life?  Likely, should would have said “life isn’t fair Hail” (Hail- the nickname she gave me, that I secretly adored).  My Grandma’s tough love was perfect because although her words may have been stern, her smile was sweet and her hugs were magical and warm.

As my life changes, I am trying to finally own who I really am.  I shared a big secret in my last post  and it felt like the right thing to do.  I don’t want to label or limit myself, but I think I am finally ready to admit who I really am regardless of other people’s reactions.

Right now, my life is all about getting through each day.  I know all of you have been or will be here someday.  Life is funny like that… the peaks and valleys.  I joked with my friend Tam the other day that my “valley” is more like the Grand Canyon right now.  Then, she commented that the Grand Canyon is actually “really beautiful”— silver lining 😉

I wish I could tell you about my recent 16 mile run, or my new compression socks, or the latest protein shake I made.  But, to be honest, I am still very injured, in physical therapy, dreaming about running, wearing the boot on and off depending on my pain level, and “making it through the day”.  I know this isn’t glamorous or blog worthy, but this is life.  I decided that since so much is going on right now (and 99% of it is NOT worth discussing on here) I would start posting more YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL pictures, inspiration, and things that I am thankful for…..

So here it goes….

I am utterly and completely thankful for my nephew.  My brother sent me this video and my heart literally burst into 1000 pieces.  I can’t wait to see my family over the holidays.

I am also thankful for my great friends.  I celebrated my BFF (& her twins) Birthday this week and enjoyed an incredible gourmet meal (made by her lovely, talented chef boyfriend).

And last, I am thankful for the 90-something-year-old patient I saw on Wednesday that told me that positivity is the key to a long life.  Amen.

What are you thankful for?

It’s good to be back 🙂

XO,

CS
