If you could write your younger self a letter, what would you say?
I would say this:
Hello darling,
I know things are really hard right now. Stay strong, keep smiling, and don’t give up… I promise life gets better. Life also gets worse too… but, it’s nothing you can’t handle.
Don’t skip all of those pool parties. I promise that you won’t die if you are seen in a bathing suit. I also promise that you look great, trust me.
Stop comparing yourself to others. You should look differently, think differently, act differently, and live differently. You are your own person.
Never pass up an opportunity to play on a playground.
Make a mistake every now and then. Trust me on this. You need to practice messing up, because making mistakes is a huge part of life.
Your junior year in high school when things get really tough, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Study abroad in France. Don’t let your fear hold you back.
Call your family more often. In fact, call everyone more often.
Stop hating your body, period! Learn to love yourself or the next few decades will be very painful.
Don’t be afraid of changing your major in college. Listen to your heart.
Start feeding yourself well. You deserve it.
It’s ok to enjoy dessert (every.single.day)!
You are capable, you are strong, you are okay… JUST the way you are.
Love,
Your older *wiser* self
What would you say to your younger self?
