Week three marathon training, CHECK!

Hey! Hope your Tuesday was happy.

I can’t believe that today was the start of my 4th week of training.  Where does the time go!?

Struggles:

* Time management– I hit the snooze button a few times this past week which meant that my runs were hurried, stretch sesh was miniscule, and breakfast was rushed/brought to work with me.

Goal this week: Give myself more time in the morning to stretch, eat, and recover instead of rushing off to work.  I think packing my lunch & snack at night will help.  Also, I will set my running clothes out the night before so I don’t lag as much at the crack of dawn.

*Poor hydration- Wicked headache around 10 AM ?? Oh ya, I forgot to drink water!

Goal this week: Bring my Nuun to work with me & start drinking a full glass of water when I get back from my run.

Sometimes I get fancy & have “spa water” at work.

Progress:

*Week 3 was challenging, but I learned a lot and I ended the week with a sweet PR at an awesome new race.  You can read the recap here.  I was overjoyed when I saw the official race results last night.  53 minutes & 8th out of 177 in my age category.  For me, this is pretty exciting, considering I was running 9-10 minute miles this time last year! It also motivates me to keep training, keep waking up early, and to keep my chin up when all I really want to do is whine.

What are some of your time management techniques?

Do you like getting new workout gear?

Best thing you ate lately?

  1. I’m so proud of you! Amazing progress! The past few days have been tough here in town, there is a huge sense of loss, helplessness and grief. Kind of like walking through fog. One thing I know for sure….. be grateful for every minute! You never know how many minutes you have left. xxoxoxo

  2. 3 weeks in the books…BOOM goes the dynamite! Oh, bitchslap that snooze button. Best thing is to stick to your regimin no matter what.

Those are some fresh pants. Def wish I could pull those off, but alas I’m a dude and people would be scared.

    1. HAHAH!!!! I will now hear “bitchslap that snooze button!” when I am tempted to push it in the morning! I think men should have more fun workout pants options 😉 neon is the new black!

      1. So what you’re saying is that I’m the first thing you’ll think of in the morning…awwww. JK, JK!

I get strange looks when I wear black ones w/o shorts over. Not sure I could pull off neon.

  3. Great job! I’m with you on forgetting to drink water after a run. I need to get better at that too. Also, I love neon colored running gear ALMOST as much as I love running itself, so those pants are amazing.

    1. Ah yes, water is SO SO important! Especially after sweating our booties off. Thanks 🙂 I am a sucker for crazy workout pants and things most people find hideous haha! Glad you and I have the same taste 😉

  4. I am very luck in the respect of I don’t have a ton I need to manage with my time; however, I try to prioritize and wake up early to run.
I love getting new gear! Especially new sports bras/tops … you can’t have enough of either!
Hmm … I’m on an oatmeal kick right now, so probably some of the oatmeal I’ve been eating. It is so good.
I am right there with you on the hydration … and fueling before a run.
